Fans in attendance will be required to wear face coverings.

The team released details in an email to season-ticket holders, saying it expects about 25% capacity at TIAA Bank Field in 2020 ”in compliance with state and local authorities and following CDC social distancing guidelines.”

”Once the season begins, any future increase in capacity will depend on developments on the health and safety front,” the Jaguars said.

The stadium’s capacity is listed at over 67,000.

Baltimore was the first team to announced plans for reduced capacity, saying Wednesday it plans to allow fewer than 14,000 fans at home game at M&T Bank Stadium in 2020.

The Jaguars said season tickets will be credited and any payments scheduled for July canceled. Season ticket holders will have the opportunity to apply credited funds toward the purchase of tickets this season or in 2021. Full cash refunds will be made upon request.

The Jaguars are working with Ticketmaster to develop a new seating chart that allows for 6 feet of distance between unaffiliated parties. In early August, a new season ticket plan for 2020 will be introduced to existing season ticket members first. Access to tickets will be based on a variety of factors including account tenure.

Guests who choose to attend games will have to cover their faces as required by current local guidelines. The stadium also will transition to cashless payment for most purchases, including merchandise and food.

Additional hand sanitizing stations will be provided throughout the stadium along with increased directional signage to encourage social distancing.

The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the team has not announced the hiring. ESPN first reported Marrone had been chosen to replace Gus Bradley, who was fired in late November after going 14-48 in three-plus seasons.

The Jaguars (3-13) also gave general manager Dave Caldwell a two-year contract extension, the person said.

Coughlin, who was Jacksonville’s first coach and won two Super Bowls in 12 seasons with the New York Giants, will serve as executive vice president of football operations.

Marrone, who also interviewed with Los Angeles and San Francisco, served as Jacksonville’s interim coach for the final two games. The Jaguars won one and blew a late lead in the season finale at Indianapolis. Players seemed to rally around him, but after the loss to the Colts, rookie cornerback Jalen Ramsey said a ”complete flip will serve us good.”

Marrone and Coughlin surely will bring a different vibe, a much more old-school approach.

Marrone likely will keep offensive coordinator Nate Hackett, providing some stability for inconsistent quarterback Blake Bortles. The former first-round draft pick has had three play-callers in three seasons.

The Jaguars (3-13) also interviewed Atlanta offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan, Tampa Bay defensive coordinator Mike Smith, New England offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels and Arizona offensive coordinator Harold Goodwin for the job.

Players said Caldwell told them the next coach would bring a winning mentality. Bradley came under fire for failing to evolve his always-positive message that placed little emphasis on winning games.

Marrone has been Jacksonville’s assistant head coach/offensive line coach since January 2015. He joined the team after two seasons as Buffalo’s head coach. He guided the Bills to a 15-17 record before opting out of his contract because of uncertainty over potential organizational changes.

The Bills went 9-7 in Marrone’s second season in 2014, the franchise’s only winning record since 2004.

Bradley hired Marrone in 2015 to replace offensive line coach George Yarno, who left the team after being diagnosed with cancer. Marrone interviewed with five teams that had head-coaching vacancies after the 2015 season, but was not offered a job.

Marrone also has been a head coach on the collegiate level, going 25-25 at Syracuse from 2009 to 2012.

The 70-year-old Coughlin was Jacksonville’s first head coach, leading the Jaguars to a 68-60 record in eight seasons (1995-2002). Coughlin resigned last January after a dozen years with the Giants, but made it clear he wanted to return to the NFL. He served as a senior adviser to the league’s football operations department this season.

”He’s got so much experience on myself or on any coach that we have in this building and he’s a great individual, so I think you can always learn from people,” Caldwell said after Bradley was fired. ”There’s always a place for knowledge.”

HOUSTON — Despite notching a win that to an extent salvaged their postseason hopes, the Texans haven’t yet found themselves in position to rest on their laurels.

Should the Texans (7-6) defeat the visiting Jacksonville Jaguars (2-11) on Sunday at NRG Stadium, they’ll inch one step closer to clinching the AFC South title. Houston would improve to 5-0 in the division with games against the Bengals and Titans remaining, with that finale in Tennessee and the division title likely up for grabs.

By beating the Colts in Indianapolis for only the second time in franchise history, the Texans remained in a first-place tie with Tennessee. And while Jacksonville doesn’t present a serious threat to disrupting their momentum, the Texans will enter the matchup hamstrung in the passing game, already an offensive weakness.

With receivers Jaelen Strong and Braxton Miller on injured reserve, the Texans also have tight end C.J. Fiedorowicz in concussion protocol. Fiedorowicz is second on the team in receptions (48) and receiving touchdowns (two), and third in receiving yards (505). He is a huge loss for a passing attack ranked 30th in the NFL.

“C.J. is a big part of what we’ve been doing, obviously,” Texans coach Bill O’Brien said. “He’s had a good year. He’s a guy that does both things well. He blocks well and obviously he’s had a good year in the passing game. I’d put him in the day-to-day category. He’s played a lot snaps for us this year. He’s pretty banged up but I know he’s going to do everything he can to try to play on Sunday. I know that.

“As far as the passing game goes, I think it’s a unit that steps up week in and week out. I know it hasn’t been the numbers that maybe everybody looks at but I think there’s been some consistency in some of the certain routes that we run and things like that. I think our guys understand the game plan. They understand how we want to attack Jacksonville.”

Given their roster attrition, the Texans must lean on their prior postseason experience to navigate the final three weeks of the season. There are veterans sprinkled throughout the roster, even some who aided playoff runs elsewhere.

The Texans have pointed to marginally improved play from quarterback Brock Osweiler, who in turn believes his experience in Denver last season is beneficial.

“I was very fortunate in my time in Denver to be a part of playoff teams, be a part of teams that were fighting for playoff positions in the month of December,” Osweiler said. “Then, obviously, last year I was fortunate to be able to contribute actually on the field. Just like I always talk about in here, there’s nothing that replaces game reps.

“Well, there’s nothing that replaces experience of being able to experience the playoffs. So, just being around that team, I think it helps me out big-picture-wise of what to expect this month, how to prepare and how to go about things.”

The Jaguars have no such expectations. After following a pair of one-possession losses in September with back-to-back victories over the Colts and Bears in October, Jacksonville has dropped eight consecutive games. Four of those losses have come by one score, underscoring how frustrating this season has been for the Jaguars.

“I think it definitely took us by shock,” Jaguars wide receiver Allen Robinson said of the skid. “I think offensively it’s not something that we thought at all. Unfortunately, it is the position that we are in, but at the end of the day, we are still trying to build some light up and trying to get some momentum heading into next season.”

That resolution leaves the Jaguars playing the role of spoiler yet again, especially given their closing schedule. After visiting the Texans this weekend, the Jaguars will host the Titans before closing on the road in Indianapolis. With the Colts just one game behind Houston and Tennessee, the Jaguars will have a say in the AFC South.

“Well, anytime it’s an AFC South opponent, I think every team in our division is looking at that saying, ‘We all want to own the AFC South,'” Jaguars coach Gus Bradley said. “When you have three opponents like we do the next three games, it’s a great opportunity.”

Even though starting safety Harrison Smith suffered a severe ankle injury against the Cowboys that could end his season, the Vikings will be relying on a defense that permits 17.4 points per game to stifle the Jaguars. Minnesota is among the league leaders in sacks (31) and interceptions (12).

Bortles needs to find a way to connect with wideout Allen Robinson, who is averaging 51.8 yards per game following last season’s 1,400-yard campaign. An already struggling ground game is dealing with injuries to Chris Ivory (hamstring) and Denard Robinson (ankle), leaving a banged-up T.J. Yeldon to carry the load against the Vikings. The Jaguars rank second defensively against the pass with an average of 195.8 yards per game, but they have a league-low three interceptions and have forced only five fumbles.

With a loss to the defending Super Bowl champion Broncos (7-4), the Jaguars (2-9) would become the fifth team in NFL history to post double-digit losses in six consecutive seasons.

It’s a dubious distinction Jacksonville surely would rather avoid. To do that, though, the Jags need to win out. That seems like an ultra-long shot for a team that has lost six in a row and already secured its ninth consecutive non-winning season.

”It’s definitely frustrating because you always think year after year that this could be the year to turn things around, and when things don’t go the way you expect, it’s so easy to get down,” said veteran defensive end Tyson Alualu, one of three guys who have been on Jacksonville’s roster for six seasons. ”This is by far the most talented team I’ve been a part of. We know that’s not the issue.

”That just shows that this is a team that could be a contender in this league and we just have to find answers to how we need to finish games and win games.”

Only four others have lost as consistently often as the Jaguars. Tampa Bay had 12 consecutive seasons (1983-94) with double-digits losses. Detroit (2001-06), Oakland (2003-09) and Cleveland (2008-13) weren’t nearly as inept as the Buccaneers, but they still managed to post at least six straight seasons with 10 or more losses.

The Jaguars seem like a lock to join the exclusive – and depressive – club. After all, they are winless in four games at EverBank Field this year and haven’t beaten a team that’s finished with a winning record since 2012.

Although coach Gus Bradley has kept his team playing hard despite the mounting losses and speculation about his job security, the Jags seems to realize they’re playing out the string down the stretch.

”Every time you come to work, it’s like a job interview because these coaches go other places,” Alualu said. ”This league is all about what have you done for me lately, so it’s about producing on the field and making plays if you want to stick around.”

Denver, meanwhile, likely needs a victory to keep pace in the crowded AFC playoff picture.

The Broncos have dropped four of their last seven games , including two of three on the road. They trail Oakland and Kansas City in the AFC West.

”I don’t pay attention to that stuff,” star linebacker Von Miller said. ”We just are trying to put our best football out there. That is all we can do. We still have five weeks left. It is a long way. Taking it one game at a time, playing as good as we possibly can and whatever happens, happens.”

Here are some other things to know about the Broncos and Jaguars:

GROUNDED GROUND GAME: The Broncos’ struggling ground game took another huge hit when battering ram rookie fullback Andy Janovich underwent season-ending surgery on his left ankle Tuesday. When healthy, Janovich added toughness to the group that’s been missing since C.J. Anderson’s knee surgery in October. The Broncos likely will play more two-tight end sets now with A.J. Derby and Virgil Green.

PLUCKING BRONCOS: The Jaguars have signed a free agent from Denver in each of the last three seasons, and only defensive tackle Malik Jackson has panned out . Jacksonville signed guard Zane Beadles to a five-year, $30 million contract in 2014 that included $12.5 million guaranteed. Beadles struggled and was cut after two seasons. Jacksonville gave tight end Julius Thomas a five-year, $46 million deal last year that included $24 million guaranteed. Thomas missed four games in 2015 because of a broken bone in his hand and two more this year because of elbow and back injuries.

BRONCOS INFIGHTING: Coach Gary Kubiak insists the incident was an emotional, heat-of-the-moment thing, but Aqib Talib’s shove of Jordan Norwood after the returner’s second muffed punt last weekend might foretell fractures in the locker room. Denver’s dazzling defense has carried an inept offense and inconsistent special teams all season, just like last year. Talib said he apologized and Norwood said he accepted. The Broncos own the best pass defense in the league and are fourth in total defense, but their offense is 19th because their O-line can’t protect the passer or bore holes for running backs.

DEPLETED BACKFIELD: The Jaguars would like to keep the ball on the ground against Denver, which ranks 27th against the run. But running back Chris Ivory (hamstring) is unlikely to play and backup T.J. Yeldon is still recovering from an ankle injury. So Jacksonville might have to count on seldom-used reserve Denard Robinson.

It has been nearly two years since Doug Marrone opted out of coaching the Buffalo Bills. Now the offensive line and assistant head coach in Jacksonville, Marrone makes his return to Western New York on Sunday when the Jaguars face the Bills at New Era Field.

“I hope it’s a miserable experience,” current Bills coach Rex Ryan said. “We want to win, man. Our fans, this is as loyal a fan base as there is, so we want to create that miserable day for people, and the fans are a big part of it.”

This has been a miserable for the Jaguars (2-8), who have lost five straight and will miss the postseason for the ninth straight year.

“Same old story, same old script, every week,” cornerback Jalen Ramsey said after last week’s 26-19 loss to Denver. “It’s been frustrating, but it’s really getting extremely frustrating.”

That frustration has been accompanied by questions about the job security of coach Gus Bradley, whose 14-44 record in three-plus seasons is the second-worst winning percentage (.241) by any coach in NFL history.

Bradley told the Buffalo media on a conference call this week that he only hears criticism of his performance, “when guys like you bring it up.”

Ryan, like Marrone before him, has faced criticism in Buffalo, despite winning as many games as he has lost since the start of last season. The Bills (5-5) snapped a three-game losing streak with a 16-12 win in Cincinnati last season, keeping alive their hopes of ending their 16-season playoff drought, the longest in the NFL.

Buffalo can improve to 6-5 for just the second time since 2009 and third time since 2001.

“We need this game in the worst way,” Ryan said. “This game is far too important for us not to put everything into it, and the preparations got to be tight.”

The Bills offense has been depleted by injuries but could be bolstered soon by the return of star wideout Sammy Watkins, who has missed the last seven games due to pain in his surgically-repaired foot. Watkins remains on injured reserve, but Ryan is hopeful he can play Sunday.

“If I’m healthy enough to play and they think I’m healthy, then I’m going to be out there,” Watkins said. “I’m not going to go out there unhealthy.”

Buffalo will be without its other starting receiver, Robert Woods (knee), while running back LeSean McCoy (thumb) is expected to play after undergoing surgery on Sunday night.

On defense, Pro Bowl lineman Marcell Dareus appears to be healthy — and rounding into football shape — after missing eight of the first nine games due to suspension and injuries to his hamstring and groin.

Emotionally, the Bills are still healing from 34-31 loss to the Jaguars in London last season.

“It left a bad taste in our mouth,” guard Richie Incognito said. “We definitely aren’t overlooking them.”

Ryan called the Jaguars, “the best two-win team I’ve ever seen.”

The Jaguars do have the No. 7 ranked defense but lead the NFL but have the least takeaways (five) and the most giveaways (22). Quarterback Blake Bortles has been intercepted in eight of 10 games and is tied with the Jets’ Ryan Fitzpatrick for the most interceptions in the league (13).

Bortles is dealing with a sprained right throwing shoulder but doesn’t expect that to keep him out of the lineup. “I’ll be ready to go Sunday,” he said.

Running back T.J. Yeldon (ankle) is less likely to play, and the Jaguars could also be without defensive end Jared Odrick (shoulder), cornerback Aaron Colvin (concussion), linebacker Dan Skuta (back) and Abry Jones (ankle). Tight end Mercedes Lewis (calf) and left guard Patrick Omameh (foot) were placed on injured reserve this week.

A winning record may not be possible, but the Jaguars are still hoping to string together wins down the stretch.

“There is no sense in folding up shot and getting ready for next year,” Bortles said. “We’ve got six more games to play and a chance to go 8-8. … I think the guys are excited about the opportunity. Not excited about where we’re at, but excited to have six more chances.”
