Jorgensen leaving George Washington to join Butler’s roster

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) Former George Washington guard Paul Jorgensen has decided to transfer to Butler.

Bulldogs coach Chris Holtmann announced the move Thursday.

Jorgensen played two seasons with the Colonials. He will sit out next season because of NCAA rules and will have two years of eligibility remaining.

The 6-foot-2 former New Jersey prep star averaged 4.9 points and finished third on the team with 81 assists last season, helping George Washington win the NIT championship. As a freshman, Jorgensen average 3.6 points. 1.3 rebounds and shot 40 percent from 3-point range.

Holtmann said he considers Jorgensen a key addition, who will add experience and toughness to a young backcourt.

Jorgensen played previously at Don Bosco Prep School and was named the North Jersey player of the year by The Newark Star-Ledger.
