Bison to receive FCS title rings at spring game

(STATS) – North Dakota State coach Matt Entz isn’t expected to name a No. 1 quarterback following the end of spring practice, but Bison fans can get a closer look at the competition Friday night.

The two-time defending FCS champions will conclude spring practice with their annual green and gold instrasquad game at the Fargodome.

Prior to the game, team members will receive their national championship rings. The Bison defeated Eastern Washington 38-24 in the 2018 title game on Jan. 5.

Quarterback is the biggest story of the offseason. Redshirt freshman Trey Lance and Iowa State junior transfer Zeb Noland have been eyed as the leading candidates to replace 3½-year starter Easton Stick. Sophomores Holden Hotchkiss and Noah Sanders also are in the competition.

North Dakota State, which is replacing 15 starters, will open the 2019 season against Butler Aug. 31 at Target Field in Minneapolis.
