(STATS) – The FCS saved some of its best for last as the postseason picture became clearer on Saturday while teams continued to wrap up bids and conference titles.
Ten teams would have their conference’s automatic qualifying bid to the national playoffs by the end of the final full weekend of the regular season. On Sunday, 14 other teams will join them as at-large selections in the 24-team field.
First things first, though, as teams were glad to be declared conference champions:
Big Sky – Eastern Washington (9-2, 7-1) has earned a share of the title, with Weber State and UC Davis seeking to do the same.
Big South – Kennesaw State captured an outright championship and the automatic qualifier.
CAA – Maine (8-3, 7-1) captured an outright championship and the automatic qualifier.
Ivy – In a league that doesn’t participate in the postseason, Princeton (10-0, 7-0) ended its season as the outright champion.
MEAC – The bid to the Air Force Reserve Celebration Bowl will go to either Florida A&M or North Carolina A&T.
Missouri Valley – Top-ranked North Dakota State captured an outright championship and the automatic qualifier.
Northeast – Duquesne (8-3, 5-1) and Sacred Heart (7-4, 5-1) were co-champions, with Duquesne earning the automatic qualifier.
Ohio Valley – Jacksonville State captured an outright championship and the automatic qualifier.
Patriot – Colgate (9-1, 6-0) captured an outright championship and the automatic qualifier.
Pioneer – San Diego (9-2, 8-0) captured an outright championship and the automatic qualifier.
