GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) Florida has announced the addition of two transfers, with former Notre Dame quarterback Malik Zaire and former Clemson offensive lineman Jake Fruhmorgen officially enrolled in summer classes.
Zaire, a left-handed passer, is a graduate transfer who is eligible to play this fall. He is expected to compete with freshman Feleipe Franks for the starting job. Zaire, who chose Florida over Harvard, Texas and Wisconsin, was Notre Dame’s starter in 2015 before sustaining a season-ending ankle injury. He played sparingly last season behind starter DeShone Kizer.
Fruhmorgen, a junior from nearby Tampa, will sit out the 2017 season under NCAA transfer rules. Fruhmorgen started eight games for the national champion Tigers in 2016. He has two years of eligibility remaining.
