(STATS) – Mercer has signed a unique graduate transfer for the 2018 season – one of its former players.
Matt Shiel, who punted for the Bears in 2015, has signed a scholarship offer with the Southern Conference program to complete his final season of eligibility.
Shiel played in two games at Auburn as a true freshman in 2014 before he transferred to Mercer a year later and earned All-SoCon second-team media honors in his only season with the Bears. The native Australian has spent the last two years at Victoria University in Melbourne, but did not compete.
