(STATS) – If you want fancy footwork, look no further than FCS college football.
Rashad Jennings’ win on ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars” Tuesday night was the second for a former FCS standout.
Jennings, who played running back at Liberty before he went on to have an NFL career, took home the Mirror Ball trophy with partner Emma Slater to cap the 24th season of the popular reality dance show.
Jennings rushed for 3,633 yards, which ranks third in Liberty history, and holds the school record with 278 career points. He was named the Big South Conference’s offensive player of the year in 2007 and ’08, and finished eighth in the voting for the 2008 Walter Payton Award, which honors the FCS offensive player of the year.
He joined Donald Driver, who played at Alcorn State before his NFL career, as a former FCS player to win on “Dancing with the Stars.” Driver appeared on season 14 in 2012.
In addition, two former FCS players who became Super Bowl champions and NFL MVPs, Jerry Rice (Mississippi Valley State) and Kurt Warner (Northern Iowa), appeared on “Dancing with the Stars.” Rice was the runner-up in season 2 in 2006.
