(STATS) – Lamar announced a contract extension for football coach Mike Schultz through the 2021 season on Wednesday.
The contract includes an option for a one-year extension following the 2021 season.
Following a 2-9 debut in 2017, Schultz led Lamar to 7-5 record and its first FCS playoff appearance last season.
“Mike has done a great job in a very short period of time building our program back to national respectability. We look forward to seeing where the program is headed under his direction,” athletic director Marco Born said.
Lamar, a Southland Conference member, is expected to return 14 starters in 2019.
