Lightning halts game between Syracuse and Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) A severe thunderstorm with lighting and high winds has halted Saturday’s Atlantic Coast Conference game between Syracuse and Louisville in the second quarter with the Cardinals leading 21-3.

Driving rain arrived early in the first quarter and continued into the second before reports of lightning in the area led officials to stop the contest with 10:39 remaining in the half. Players from both schools returned to their locker rooms and fans were evacuated as sheets of rain pelted Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium.

Heisman Trophy winner Lamar Jackson has accounted for 212 yards of offense, including a 43-yard touchdown run. He earlier broke Chris Redman’s school record of 12,129 yards and moved into third place all time in the ACC.

Malik Williams and Reggie Bonnafon have TDs run of 46 and 33 yards respectively for Louisville.
