(STATS) – Samford hopes its early start to the 2019 season will serve as a springboard to success.
The Southern Conference program announced a 12-game schedule on Wednesday, beginning with the previously announced FCS Kickoff against Youngstown State Aug. 24 in Montgomery, Alabama.
The two teams last met in the first round of the 2016 FCS playoff – a 38-24 Youngstown win.
SoCon highlights include a Sept. 14 visit to Wofford and Homecoming versus Chattanooga on Nov. 9. The Bulldogs will wrap up the regular season at Auburn on Nov. 23.
Samford missed the playoffs last season after two straight appearances, finishing 6-5 overall and 5-3 in the SoCon. Coach Chris Hatcher’s squad will return seven starters on each side of the ball this year.
