TROY, Ala. (AP) Troy quarterback Kaleb Barker will start the opener against No. 22 Boise State.
Trojans coach Neal Brown said Monday that Barker won the job over Sawyer Smith. But he says both will play Saturday.
Barker replaces four-year starter Brandon Silvers, who accounted for a school-record 77 touchdowns running and passing in his career.
Barker was the backup last season. He rushed for 181 yards and two touchdowns while completing 8 of 13 passes for 143 yards.
Brown says Kaleb’s production in practice and mobility won him the starting job.
