AP Source: Seattle nearing extension with Bobby Wagner

SEATTLE (AP) A person familiar with the deal says the Seattle Seahawks and linebacker Bobby Wagner are close to finalizing a contract extension that would keep the All-Pro middle linebacker with the club after this season.

The person spoke to The Associated Press on Saturday night on the condition of anonymity because the extension has not been officially announced by the team. NFL.com reported it would be a four-year extension.

Wagner was an All-Pro last season and finished second on the team with 104 tackles after missing five games with a painful toe injury. Wagner has been Seattle’s starting middle linebacker since being selected in the second round of the 2012 draft.

Wagner said Friday that his deadline for an extension was ”now,” and that he briefly considered holding out from training camp to make his point.
