NEW YORK (AP) Mets reliever Anthony Swarzak has been placed on the 10-day disabled list after straining a muscle on his left side in his second appearance with New York.
The team recalled right-hander Hansel Robles from Triple-A Las Vegas before Tuesday night’s game against Philadelphia.
Swarzak left Saturday’s game against St. Louis and was later sent for an MRI. He was put on the DL retroactive to Sunday and expects to miss at least a few weeks.
The 32-year-old right-hander was the biggest offseason addition to a bullpen the Mets hope will be much-improved this season. The right-hander signed a $14 million, two-year contract after going 6-4 with a 2.33 ERA and 91 strikeouts over 77 1/3 innings in 70 combined games last year with the White Sox and Brewers.
He has given up one run and struck out three in 2 1/3 innings with New York.
