Anaheim Ducks claim LW Pontus Aberg off waivers from Oilers

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) The Anaheim Ducks have claimed left wing Pontus Aberg off waivers from the Edmonton Oilers.

The Ducks made the move Monday.

Aberg had four goals and 12 assists while splitting last season between Nashville and Edmonton. The former second-round pick by the Predators has 18 points in 68 career NHL games, and the Swede played in six Stanley Cup Final games for Nashville in 2017.

The Ducks added forward depth in the face of several significant injury problems again to start this season. Right wing Corey Perry will be out for five months after right knee surgery, while veterans Patrick Eaves and Ryan Kesler don’t appear to be back to full strength.

Anaheim opens the regular season at San Jose on Wednesday.
