FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) The New York Jets waived tight end Brian Parker on Tuesday after he failed his physical and signed safety Antonio Allen.
Parker was acquired on waivers from Kansas City on Sunday. The Jets now have three tight ends on their roster: Kellen Davis, Brandon Bostick and Braeden Bowman.
Allen, who was waived by Houston over the weekend, spent the past four seasons with the Jets after being a seventh-round draft pick out of South Carolina in 2012. He missed all of last season with a torn Achilles tendon, and signed with the Texans as a free agent in March.
The Jets filled out their 10-player practice squad by adding cornerback Dexter McDougle, safety Ronald Martin and running backs Dominique Williams and Raheem Mostert.
McDougle, a third-round draft pick in 2014, Martin and Williams all had been with the Jets before being waived last weekend. Mostert was in camp with Cleveland this summer.
New York also released linebacker Trevor Reilly, a key special teams player since being a seventh-rounder in 2014, and running back Matthew Tucker from injured reserve – making them both free agents.
