CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) The Carolina Panthers didn’t even wait to see cornerback Brandon Boykin in practice, cutting him before the official start of OTAs.
The Panthers had signed Boykin as a free agent earlier this offseason prior to drafting three cornerbacks. They won’t have to pay Boykin’s base salary, but will have to account for his $80,000 signing bonus under this year’s salary cap.
Carolina signed six players Monday who had tryouts during rookie minicamp this past weekend including linebacker Jared Barber, tight end Braxton Deaver, cornerback Shaq Richardson, offensive tackle Jordan Rigsbee, wide receiver Miles Shuler and running back Jalen Simmons.
The team also released cornerback Ras-I Dowling and wide receiver Jenson Stoshack.
