DALLAS (AP) SMU freshman Harry Froling of Australia is leaving the program and expressing disappointment over his role under new coach Tim Jankovich.
Froling said Monday it was a ”big sacrifice” to leave his home country to play for the Mustangs and the change has been difficult. The 6-foot-11 forward said he was ”going to look at all of my options collegiately and professionally back home.”
The 18-year-old Froling averaged 4.3 points and 3.2 rebounds while playing almost 15 minutes per game for the Mustangs. He signed with SMU in May when Larry Brown was still coach. Brown abruptly resigned in July, and Jankovich had been the coach in waiting as his top assistant.
Froling has two older sisters who have played for the SMU women, including current player Alicia Froling.
