COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) Clemson coach Brad Brownell has received a new six-year contract that will pay him $15 million through 2024.

The school’s compensation committee of the board of trustees approved the deal Thursday for Brownell, who reached the round of the 16 in the Tigers’ first NCAA Tournament appearance in seven years.

Brownell has spent eight seasons at Clemson. His previous contract was through 2021 and paid him $1.8 million a year.

Clemson went 25-10 this past season. It was picked to finish 13th in the Atlantic Coast Conference preseason poll, yet ended the year tied for third.

Clemson followed that up with its deepest run in the NCAA tournament since 1997 when it blew out Auburn 84-53 in the second round before falling to Kansas.
