PITTSBURGH (AP) Duquesne has named longtime University of Dayton administrator David Harper as the school’s new athletic director.
Harper replaces Greg Amodio, who left the Dukes in July for the same job at Quinnipiac.
Harper spent the last three years at Dayton as the associate vice president of university advancement, where his duties included overseeing the Flyers men’s basketball program. He worked in a variety of roles during two different stints at Dayton from 1998-2003 and 2012-15, with a stop at the University of Michigan in between.
Duquesne president Charles Dougherty called Harper ”an ideal fit” for the Dukes because he ”is a leader and strategic thinker who understands how to build successful programs.”
Harper, who has an MBA from Robert Morris and an undergraduate degree from Wright State, starts in October.
