YPSILANTI, Mich. (AP) James Thompson IV picked up his fifth consecutive double-double, scoring 17 points and collaring 11 rebounds to help lead Eastern Michigan to an 86-58 defeat of NAIA Rochester on Tuesday night.
Thompson also blocked three shots. Willie Mangum scored 22 points and made four 3-pointers for the Eagles (6-3). Mangum missed only two shots, both from distance. Tim Bond and Raven Lee each scored 11 points.
Thompson is the first Eastern Michigan player to make five straight double-doubles since Brandon Bowdry in the 2009-10 season.
Paris Pereira scored 14 points with four 3-pointers and six assists for the Warriors.
Rochester, 8-0 in NAIA play, was ranked No. 24 in the season’s first NAIA poll, released last week.
Eastern Michigan built a 15-5 lead barely five minutes into the game and was up 51-28 by halftime. The Eagles had 15 steals and Rochester 21 turnovers.
