Former Houston guard L.J. Rose to transfer to BYU

PROVO, Utah (AP) Former Houston guard L.J. Rose has decided to transfer to BYU, coach Dave Rose said Tuesday. He will be eligible to play as a graduate-transfer senior during the upcoming season.

Rose averaged 5.7 points and 3.6 assists during stints at Baylor and Houston. He’s played in 82 games and started 44. The 6-foot-3 Houston native played just two games last season due to a foot injury.

Dave Rose expects the transfer to add experienced depth to the backcourt.

The Cougars went 26-11 last season and advanced to the NIT semifinal, losing to Valparaiso 72-70.
