(STATS) – A home rematch of last year’s SWAC Championship Game is a highlight on Alcorn State’s 11-game schedule in 2019.
The defending conference champion will play six of its 11 games at Jack Spinks-Marino Casem Stadium. Included is the Oct. 26 matchup with Southern.
Last year, the Braves defeated Southern twice, 20-3 in the regular season and 37-28 to claim the SWAC title.
Coach Fred McNair’s team will open the season on Aug. 31 at Southern Miss. The Braves also will host Mississippi College (Sept. 7), Prairie View A&M (Sept. 21), Mississippi Valley State (Sept. 28), Savannah State (Oct. 12, Homecoming) and Alabama A&M (Nov. 16).
The Braves are expected to return 15 starters from last year’s 9-4 squad.
