(STATS) – Call it the junior version of the “Backyard Brawl” between Pittsburgh and West Virginia athletic programs.
Duquesne, which is located in Pittsburgh, will get its first shot at West Virginia in 88 years with a matchup at Mountaineer Field in Morgantown on Sept. 9, 2023, FBSchedules.com reported Wednesday.
The Dukes from the Northeast Conference will receive a $425,000 guarantee for the game, the report said.
West Virginia and Duquesne haven’t met since a 19-0 Dukes’ victory in 1935. The Mountaineers hold a 4-3-2 series lead.
Pitt and WVU also are scheduled to meet in 2023.
