Goedert skips running 40 at SDSU pro dayBy CRAIG HALEY

(STATS) – Former South Dakota State tight end Dallas Goedert disappointed some of the NFL scouts in attendance when he did not run the 40-yard dash at the Jackrabbits’ pro day Friday in Brookings.

All 32 NFL teams descended on the pro day, most wanting to get another close look at Goedert, who is expected to be the first FCS player selected in the April 26-28 draft. He’s projected for one of the first two rounds.

The 6-foot-4½, 260-pound Goedert did not run the 40 at the NFL Combine earlier this month. The two-time first-team STATS FCS All-American was recovering from a slight hamstring injury that he suffered in practice at the Reese’s Senior Bowl in January.

He participated in a number of the other pro day drills, notably recording a 35-inch vertical jump and a 10-foot-1 leap in the broad jump.

“The last four years have been incredible here, but I’m ready for the next step and the next challenge,” Goedert told the Argus Leader newspaper in Sioux Falls. “I’m ready to go dominate the NFL just like I did here.”

In his college career, Goedert caught 198 passes for 2,988 yards and 21 touchdowns.

Among the other players who participated in the pro day were Goedert’s SDSU teammate Jake Wieneke, one of the more productive wide receivers in FCS history, and former South Dakota quarterback Chris Streveler.
