(STATS) – Tennessee State football player Christion Abercrombie will continue his rehabilitation from a brain injury near his home outside Atlanta.
The 20-year-old Abercrombie, from Smyrna, Georgia, was transferred on Wednesday from Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville to Shepherd Center in Atlanta. Following initial evaluation, care and observation, he will move into the hospital’s rehabilitation program.
Abercrombie, a linebacker, was injured in a game at Vanderbilt on Sept. 29. He underwent emergency surgery that night and was on a ventilator until this past weekend.
“We truly appreciate all of the love, support and prayers from everyone,” Staci Abercrombie, Christion’s mother, said. “This has given the family the strength needed to be able to care for Christion.”
