(STATS) – Ten sounds perfect for Long Island University’s first season on the FCS level.
Coach Bryan Collins announced a 10-game schedule, although only three at home, on Thursday.
LIU’s Division I era in football will kick off on Sept. 7 with a game at FCS power South Dakota State. The host Jackrabbits have reached the national semifinals each of the past two seasons.
LIU will play a full Northeast Conference schedule, unlike fellow transitioning member Merrimack, which will visit Brookville, New York, on Nov. 23 to conclude the regular season. LIU also will host Sacred Heart (Sept. 21) and Saint Francis (Oct. 19) in NEC games.
Last year, LIU went 10-1 in its final season in Division II.
