Louisiana Tech's Dixon sets NCAA record with 86th career TD

NEW ORLEANS (AP) Louisiana Tech running back Kenneth Dixon set NCAA records with his 87th career touchdown and 522nd point Saturday night in the New Orleans Bowl against Arkansas State.

Dixon entered the game with 83 TDs, two behind Navy quarterback Keenan Reynolds, who has scored all 85 of his touchdowns as a rusher and has 512 points. Navy will play Pittsburgh on Monday in the Military Bowl.

Dixon had a 9-yard touchdown reception in the first quarter, followed by a 59-yard touchdown catch and 8-yard scoring run in the third quarter, and a 4-yard TD run in the fourth quarter.

Dixon’s No. 28 jersey was ripped on his TD run. He was allowed to replace it, symbolically, with a No. 1 jersey for the remainder of the game.

Dixon, a senior, also entered the game as the nation’s active leader in yards rushing with 4,378.
