CORAL GABLES, Fla. (AP) Mark Richt will be introduced as Miami’s new coach on Friday morning.
The university announced Thursday that it will introduce its new football coach at a press conference on Friday. Miami did not say who the coach is, but a person with knowledge of the negotiations told The Associated Press on Wednesday that Richt and the Hurricanes had agreed in principle on a deal that will bring him back to his alma mater.
Richt spent the last 15 years at Georgia, winning 145 games and two Southeastern Conference titles. When he and the Bulldogs parted ways earlier this week Miami moved quickly to get the 55-year-old Richt back to the place where his college career began as a quarterback from 1979 through his graduation in 1982.
