NC State’s Bradley Chubb apologizes for spitting on FSU logoBy JOE REEDY

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) North Carolina State’s Bradley Chubb said that he didn’t intentionally spit on Florida State’s logo after the Wolfpack’s 27-21 victory over the 12th-ranked Seminoles on Saturday.

The senior defensive end then took to social media to apologize.

”I let my emotions get the best of me. I have the utmost respect for coach (Jimbo) Fisher and Florida State,” said Chubb in a statement on North Carolina State’s football Twitter account.

Chubb, who had seven tackles, a pair of sacks and a forced fumble, said after the game he didn’t remember doing that and that he always spits when he’s playing. Television cameras caught Chubb jogging to midfield and looking down at the logo as he was spitting.

”It wasn’t intentional at all. It wasn’t celebration. I celebrated with my teammates and then talked to coach (Dave) Doeren. I guess (I) just spit, I really didn’t mean to,” he said.

Chubb wasn’t the only N.C. State player who let his emotions get the best of him. Wide receiver Jakobi Meyers did a flip in the end zone after his 71-yard touchdown in the second quarter gave the Wolfpack a 17-7 lead.

”I’ve just got to work on controlling my emotions. That really hurt us in the long run,” he said. ”I’m not saying I’m proud of it, but I’m surprised I did it. It’s bigger than the individual. It was more about that team.”
