Norvell suspends 2 Memphis Tigers under investigation

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) Memphis coach Mike Norvell has suspended wide receiver Jae’Lon Oglesby and cornerback Kam Prewitt indefinitely while police investigate an incident that left Oglesby’s car riddled with bullet holes.

Norvell issued the statement Wednesday noting the incident Tuesday night is being investigated police and the university also is reviewing an undisclosed incident under the student code of conduct. Norvell says he consulted with athletic director Tom Bowen in suspending the players from the Tigers (5-2), and Norvell will not comment further with the situation under investigation.

The Commercial Appeal cited a police report Wednesday that Oglesby, a sophomore from Central, South Carolina, told officers he heard shots outside his off-campus apartment Tuesday night and found bullet holes in his car. Oglesby told police he fought with Prewitt earlier Tuesday.

Prewitt, from Pinson, Alabama, was suspended during fall camp.
