TCU star WR Doctson not out for season with wrist injury

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) TCU star receiver Josh Doctson could still play Saturday against Kansas, and his season is not over because of a left wrist injury.

The school said Thursday that coach Gary Patterson’s comments about Doctson during an interview with SiriusXMCollege were misinterpreted. Patterson was talking about the Horned Frogs being without the senior receiver after this season, but not saying he was out for the season as was initially reported after the interview.

Patterson earlier this week described Doctson as ”probable,” while also indicating he could be held out or limited as a precaution in a game when the 13th-ranked Horned Frogs are more than six-touchdown favorites against winless Kansas.

TCU (8-1) also still has games left against No. 4 Baylor and No. 12 Oklahoma.

Players fell on Doctson’s arm after he made a catch in TCU’s 49-29 loss at Stillwater, Oklahoma.

Doctson has been one of the best receivers in the country this season. He is second in the nation in yards per game (146.1), third in receptions per game (8.7) and has 14 touchdowns.
