(STATS) – Former Albany quarterback Vincent Testaverde is getting a tryout with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 32 years after the franchise picked his father first in the NFL Draft.
The younger Testaverde went undrafted this past week before being invited to the Buccaneers’ rookie minicamp May 10-11.
The Odessa, Florida, native spent time at Texas Tech and Miami (Fla.) before transferring to Albany, where he started eight games as a redshirt senior last season. He passed for 1,714 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Testaverde’s father Vinny was the 1986 Heisman Trophy winner at Miami before the Bucs made him the No. 1 pick the following year. He spent six seasons with the team, becoming its all-time leading passer.
