Oddsmakers currently have the CHICAGO listed as 2.5 point favorites versus the DALLAS, while the game’s total is sitting at 220.5.
The Dallas Mavericks will try to build off an impressive home win while attempting to pick up their first road victory of the season when they visit the Chicago Bulls on Monday. After falling to 0-6 on the road with a loss at Utah on Wednesday, the Mavericks snapped Oklahoma City’s seven-game winning streak with a 111-96 triumph on Saturday to improve to 4-2 at home.
Rookie Luka Doncic scored 22 points and J.J. Barea added 21 off the bench as Dallas shot a season-high 55.8 percent from the field. Doncic added eight assists and six rebounds in 31 minutes and allowed his teammates and coaches to breathe a sigh of relief when he returned from a knee issue that caused him to take a seat for a chunk of time in the second half. The 19-year-old had 19 points and six assists in a 115-109 win over the Bulls at home earlier this season. Chicago fell to 0-3 with that loss but is 4-6 since then after picking up a 99-98 win over Cleveland at home Saturday night.
TV:Â 8 p.m. ET, FS Southwest (Dallas), NBCS Chicago
ABOUT THE MAVERICKS (4-8):Â Barea led a bench that produced 53 points while welcoming back veteran guard Devin Harris (six points, three assists in 12 minutes) from a hamstring strain that had kept him out of action since the season opener. “It’s good to be back with my guys,” Harris told reporters. “Nothing special, just tried to get in the paint, create shots for others. Energy is what I’m trying to bring. I’m just glad we got the win. That’s all I care about.” Franchise great Dirk Nowitzki has yet to play following ankle surgery but he said Saturday that he is feeling better about a possible return this month.
ABOUT THE BULLS (4-9):Â With several key players injured for all or most of the season, much of this campaign has been about finding someone to support Zach LaVine, who scored 24 points against the Cavaliers on Saturday — his 13th straight game of 20 or more to begin the season. Second-year guard Ryan Arcidiacono stepped up in the win with a personal-best 15 points while making his first career start. “(Arcidiacono) is a guy who is going to go out there and play with toughness,” Bulls coach Fred Hoiberg told the media. “He’s somebody we feel deserves this opportunity to go out there. He gets us extra possessions. He gets you into things offensively.”
BUZZER BEATERS
1. LaVine had 34 points on 11-of-15 shooting in the loss at Dallas last month.
2. Mavericks C DeAndre Jordan had nine rebounds against Oklahoma City, the first game all season in which he has failed to grab at least 10.
3. Bulls F Wendell Carter Jr. is 12-for-17 from the floor over his last two games.
