Not even a visit from the major league-worst Baltimore Orioles could snap the Detroit Tigers out of their funk. The Tigers, who dropped 12 of their last 13 games, will try to avoid another setback when they visit the Orioles in the second of a three-game series on Tuesday.
Detroit has managed three or fewer runs in nine of its last 12 setbacks and was held to three runs on eight hits in a 5-3 loss in Monday’s series opener, with a pair of errors leading to two unearned runs against left-hander Daniel Norris. The Tigers, who planned on a rebuilding year, fell to 19-32 with Monday’s loss despite a soft part of the schedule that included three games at home against the National League-worst Miami Marlins – all losses – and a trip to the struggling New York Mets before the visit to Baltimore.
