Power forward Blake Griffin made his season debut Monday and figures to again be in the lineup when the Detroit Pistons visit the Miami Heat on Tuesday. Griffin missed the first 10 games of the season but looked spry with 19 points, seven rebounds and six assists in 24 minutes during Monday’s 120-114 home loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Griffin was sidelined with hamstring and knee injuries and was on a minutes restriction that will continue Tuesday. “I would’ve loved to have played 36 tonight, but I have to listen to our trainers,” Griffin said after the loss. “I felt as good as I probably could’ve felt for not playing basketball for a long time.” Miami is home after going 1-2 on a three-game road trip that ended with a subpar 95-80 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday. “Even in the first half, we were playing this game in the mud,” Miami coach Erik Spoelstra said after his team was 4-of-19 shooting in the final stanza. “… It just got away from us in the fourth quarter.”

ABOUT THE PISTONS (4-7):Â Point guard Derrick Rose (hamstring) returned from a four-game absence but struggled with six points on 3-of-13 shooting in 20 minutes and was unhappy with his and the team’s performance against the Timberwolves. “Do we want to win? Do we want to come out and work hard or do we want to get spanked like this every night?” Rose told reporters. Reserve guard Langston Galloway provided a boost by scoring 18 points on 7-of-11 shooting, including 4-of-6 from 3-point range.
ABOUT THE HEAT (6-3):Â Miami’s point total against the Lakers was a season low and it occurred one day after guard Dion Waiters reportedly needed medical care due to having a panic attack on the plane after eating a THC-infused edible. Players who violate the NBA marijuana policy typically enter a program but the Heat suspended Waiters for 10 games for a slew of offenses, including what the club termed “conduct detrimental to the team.” Team captain Udonis Haslem said, “I don’t feel like it’s a distraction. Obviously the situation has been handled, so we move on. A distraction is something that continues to transpire or continues to be an issue. … The only concern I have is for my brother Dion and that he’s healthy.”
