Rhys Hoskins and Andrew McCutchen had two RBIs apiece as Philadelphia won for the ninth time in its last 13 games. Second baseman Cesar Hernandez had a hit, two walks and a run scored Saturday, improving to 12-for-28 over his last nine games for the Phillies. The Royals received single hits from their first four hitters in the lineup Saturday while the next five combined to go 0-for-14. They hope to give Jakob Junis more offensive support when he starts the series finale opposite Cole Irvin, who will make his major league debut in place of the injured Vince Velasquez (forearm).

Tony’s Pick TEAM
PHILADELPHIA -125

PITCHING MATCHUP: Phillies LH Cole Irvin (NR) vs. Royals RH Jakob Junis (3-3, 5.52)

Irvin was 14-4 with a 2.57 ERA with Lehigh Valley last year and picked up where he left off with six solid starts out of the gate for the IronPigs in 2019. He tossed at least six innings in each of his last five starts, including 6 1/3 innings of three-run ball at Buffalo on May 4. The 25-year-old, a native of California, was selected in the fifth round of the 2016 draft.

Junis tied a season high with five runs allowed on nine hits and two walks over 5 1/3 innings of a loss at Houston on Monday. He limited Tampa Bay to two runs in 6 1/3 frames in his last home start two turns ago. The Illinois native, who has never faced Philadelphia, is 2-1 with a 3.43 ERA in seven career interleague starts.

2. Hoskins has 14 RBIs in his last 12 games.

3. Philadelphia’s starters own a 2.45 ERA over their last 15 games.
