Oddsmakers currently have the ARIZONA listed as -125 point favorites versus the SAN FRANCISCO, while the game’s total is sitting at 9.
The Arizona Diamondbacks will try to put their struggles at home behind them when they host the San Francisco Giants on Friday in the opener of a three-game series. Arizona is 3-4 on its 10-game homestand and 10-11 at Chase Field this season after winning two of three from Pittsburgh and dropping three of four to Atlanta prior to meeting San Francisco for the first time this season.
Arizona (24-20) hopes to have David Peralta (.318 average) in the lineup Friday after he left Wednesday’s game with right trap tightness, but manager Torey Lovullo told reporters that the right fielder would be OK after some time in the training room. The Giants (18-24), who have been outscored 46-6 in the first inning this season, are coming off a two-game split with Toronto and own a four-series winless streak (0-1-3). San Francisco’s Brandon Belt (right knee inflammation) could return to the lineup after he was rested Wednesday before Thursday’s off-day. The Giants’ Jeff Samardzija carries a three-game no-decision streak into Friday’s start and opposes rookie Merrill Kelly, who faces San Francisco for the first time.
