Rookie Brandon Lowe responded to a four-strikeout performance with a big offensive effort and hopes to build on that when the Tampa Bay Rays go for a series victory Sunday afternoon against the host Cleveland Indians. Lowe, who leads the team with 11 homers and 30 RBIs, had a run-scoring double to go along with a solo blast and a walk in Saturday’s 6-2 victory as the Rays won for the 17th time in 25 road games.
“He’s as good as anybody at staying consistent with his mind,” Tampa Bay manager Kevin Cash told reporters of Lowe. “. … He’s knows he’s a good hitter and he knows when he gets some pitches to hit, more times than not he’s caught them this year. The other night, he was pitched tough and you kinda just move on. … He doesn’t change his approach.
