Diamondbacks’ Hudson set to make 1st start in nearly 2 years

PHOENIX (AP) – Arizona Diamondbacks right-hander Daniel Hudson is set to make his first start in nearly two years.

Hudson tore his ulnar collateral ligament in June 2012 and has made just 12 major league appearances since, all in relief.

Manager Chip Hale says Hudson is scheduled to throw only 50-60 pitches Sunday against San Diego. The Diamondbacks plan to go with a committee of relievers, including J.C. Ramirez, who was called up from Triple-A Reno to fill the roster spot opened when the team sent Danny Dorn back to the minors after Saturday’s game.
