LOS ANGELES (AP) Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw has been activated from the 10-day disabled list and is slated to start against the Philadelphia Phillies.
Kershaw hasn’t appeared in a major league game since May 1. The three-time NL Cy Young Award winner was sidelined with left biceps tendinitis.
The 30-year-old Kershaw went 1-4 with a 2.86 ERA in his first seven starts. His year also started with an uncharacteristically high 10 walks over 44 innings, in marked contrast to the 11 walks he had in 149 innings for the entire 2016 regular season.
It is the third consecutive year Kershaw has been on the disabled list, missing time each of the past two seasons with a back injury.
The Dodgers also optioned reliever Pat Venditte to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Thursday.
