PREDICTION: LA ANGELS , LA DODGERS
Oddsmakers currently have the LA ANGELS listed as -105 point favorites versus the LA DODGERS, while the game’s total is sitting at 8.5.
While the beginning of the Los Angeles Dodgers’ rebound from a 16-26 start coincides almost perfectly with the return of Justin Turner to the lineup, he hasn’t been a huge part of their resurgence. The 2017 All-Star delivered a key hit in Saturday’s victory, however, and he’ll try to be an important part of what the Dodgers hope is their sixth win in seven tries Sunday when they visit the Los Angeles Angels in the rubber match of their three-game series.
Turner, who batted .322 with 71 RBIs last season, has yet to hit better than .268 or drive in more than 10 runs in any of the three months since returning from the broken wrist in spring training that cost him the first 40 games of 2018. The Dodgers lost their first two games with him back in the lineup just under two months ago but improved to 32-14 since May 16 on Saturday as his two-run single in the fifth inning broke open a scoreless game and was all the offense his team needed in a 3-1 victory. Mike Trout celebrated the seventh anniversary of his big-league promotion Saturday by going 3-for-4 with a home run, snapping out of a 2-for-20 funk over his previous six games. Despite the setback, the Angels have won seven of the last 11 meetings in the Freeway Series.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Dodgers LH Alex Wood (5-5, 3.84 ERA) vs. Angels LH Andrew Heaney (4-6, 3.94)
Wood has won each of his last four turns after doing so once in his first 13 starts and is coming off a six-inning effort Monday versus Pittsburgh in which he permitted one run over six innings. The 27-year-old North Carolina native has surrendered a homer in three consecutive outings but yielded a total of six earned runs during his winning streak. Wood will face the Angels for the first time and try to improve on his 3-6 record and 3.15 ERA in 18 interleague appearances (12 starts).
Heaney notched his second 10-strikeout performance of the season for naught in Tuesday’s loss at Seattle, yielding three runs across seven innings. The Oklahoma State product has been masterful at home for the most part in 2018, going 4-2 with a 2.18 ERA while holding opponents to a .201 batting average. Those marks figure to get tested against the Dodgers, who reached Heaney for seven runs over 10 1/3 innings while beating him both times they faced him in 2015.
WALK-OFFS
1. Neither team has tallied more than five hits in either of the first two games of this series.
2. After going 8-for-12 against Pittsburgh in the previous series, Dodgers SS Chris Taylor is 0-for-8 with seven strikeouts this weekend.
3. Angels OF Justin Upton has only two home runs and five RBIs over his last 26 games after hitting 15 home runs and driving in 40 in his first 61 contests.
