LEADING OFF: Harvey Day in the Bronx, Hudson at Coors Field

A look at what’s happening all around the major leagues Saturday:

HARVEY DAY

The New York Mets are taking Harvey Day over the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge to Yankee Stadium in the Bronx. All-Star ace Matt Harvey, nursing a sore ankle, tries to put the Mets back in the win column after the Yankees ended their 11-game winning streak Friday night in the Subway Series opener. ”A little tape is not going to keep him from pitching the way he can pitch,” Mets manager Terry Collins said. CC Sabathia starts for the Yankees. He is looking for his first victory since April 24, 2014.

MILE HIGH MISERY

San Francisco righty Tim Hudson (0-2, 3.93 ERA) seeks his first career win at Coors Field. He’s 0-2 with a 7.29 ERA in eight starts in the Mile High City. Coors Field is one of two current major league parks where the veteran pitcher has never earned a win. The other is Target Field in Minnesota, where he’s 0-1.

SCORELESS STREAK

Cincinnati’s Anthony DeSclafani is making the Reds’ decision to trade Mat Latos look good so far. While Latos has struggled with Miami, DeSclafani takes a streak of 15 scoreless innings into his start against the Chicago Cubs. He’s 2-0 with a 0.86 ERA in three starts.

FISH STICKS

Stephen Strasburg is scheduled to start for the Nationals against Miami right-hander Tom Koehler. Strasburg is 3-4 with a 5.59 ERA in seven starts at Marlins Park.

NO FREEBIES

Houston Astros right-hander Scott Feldman can set a club record when he faces the Oakland Athletics. Feldman is attempting to become the first pitcher in franchise history to go at least five innings with one walk or fewer in each of his first four starts of a season.

ROUGH START

Philadelphia right-hander David Buchanan has struggled out of the gate after an impressive showing in spring training. He’s 0-3 with a 9.22 ERA in three starts and will look to turn things around when the Phillies host Atlanta.
