The team announced Thursday that the 33-year-old Price was treated with a shot of cortisone in the wrist. Price is 7-5 record with a 4.36 ERA over 21 starts this season.
He most recently pitched Sunday against the New York Yankees after being reinstated from paternity leave.
Right-hander Hector Velazquez was recalled from Triple-A Pawtucket to take Price’s spot on the 25-man roster before the series opener Thursday night against the Los Angeles Angels.
