White Sox manager Robin Ventura ejected

With the White Sox offense in a scoring drought of epic proportions, White Sox manager Robin Ventura needed to find any kind of way to fire up his squad.

Ventura got that chance in the 4th inning when a controversial call by home plate umpire Alfonso Marquez saw Adam Eaton called out at second base on a steal attempt because of batter interference by Melky Cabrera. Ventura clearly wasn’t a big fan of the call and got into a heated exchange with Marquez and was ejected. It was the 11th time Ventura has been tossed as a manger.

Before the game, Ventura told reporters that he wasn’t going to change his calm character with the team struggling.

“I have rant and raved before,” Ventura said. “You don’t get to see that. You do have moments where you lose it and you’re more vocal, or you do something to get some attention or something like that. I’m not going to do it for everybody else to see just because they want to see it. Inside (the clubhouse), they get to see it.”

Clearly his ejection got his team fired up because the Sox would score two runs two innings later, ending their scoreless innings drought at 30 innings.
