Curry still hot as Warriors down Wolves, improve to 10-0

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) Golden State’s Stephen Curry scored 21 points in the first quarter to set up another dominant performance personally and by his team as the Warriors won 129-116 at Minnesota on Thursday to make it 10 straight wins to start the season.

In the day’s other two games, reserve Tyler Johnson sank two key late baskets to give Miami the narrowest of wins against Utah, and Phoenix rolled past a depleted Los Angeles Clippers lineup.

Curry, the reigning league MVP, bit 15 of 25 shots, including 8 of 13 3-pointers, to finish with 46 points.

Draymond Green had 23 points, 12 assists and eight rebounds for the Warriors, who are the fourth defending champion to start the season with at least 10 straight wins.

Karl-Anthony Towns had 17 points and 11 rebounds for the Timberwolves, who have lost all four home games this season while winning all four away. Ricky Rubio missed his second straight game with a strained left hamstring.

The Warriors went 18 for 38 from 3-point range while Minnesota was just 3 for 9.

Miami’s Tyler Johnson hit two key field goals in the final 1:48 as the Heat squeezed past Utah 92-91.

Chris Bosh scored 25 points, and Johnson finished with 17 as the Heat won its third straight win to open a seven-game homestand.

Miami started the game on a 9-0 run and opened the fourth quarter with a 13-4 spurt.

Derrick Favors led Utah with 25 points and 12 rebounds.

Miami played without Dwyane Wade, who was excused for a family emergency.

Utah was without starting center Rudy Gobert, the NBA’s No. 3 shot-blocker, who has a sprained left ankle.

Phoenix’s Brandon Knight matched his career high with 37 points and Eric Bledsoe fell one assist shy of his second career triple-double as the Suns downed the Clippers 11104.

Los Angeles was without starting guards Chris Paul (groin strain) and J.J. Redick (lower back spasms), then Blake Griffin was ejected after drawing his second technical foul with 2:36 left in the first half.
