LeBron scores 23, rips jersey in Cavs' 96-86 win over Knicks

CLEVELAND (AP) LeBron James scored 23 points and did some quick tailoring on Cleveland’s tight, sleeved uniforms as the Cavaliers won their fourth straight, 96-86 over the New York Knicks on Wednesday night.

James made a 3-pointer and dunked off a nice pass from Mo Williams – who scored 23 – while scoring 11 in the fourth quarter, when the Cavs outscored the Knicks 26-17.

Tristan Thompson grabbed 13 rebounds and Kevin Love had 12 boards for Cleveland, which hasn’t lost since opening night in Chicago.

Carmelo Anthony scored 17 and rookie Kristaps Porzingis 13 for the Knicks.

During the first half, an irritated James performed an in-game alteration on Cleveland’s new sleeved jerseys. The four-time MVP, who has complained in the past that the retro-looking tops are too tight for his arms and shoulders, tore the sleeves open midway through a 4-of-11 shooting performance in the opening 24 minutes.

Toronto’s DeMar DeRozan scored 10 of his 28 points in the fourth quarter as the Raptors overcame an eight-point deficit in the final 6 minutes to beat the Oklahoma City Thunder 103-98 and remain undefeated.

Jonas Valanciunas had 17 points and 12 rebounds and Kyle Lowry added 17 points for the Raptors (5-0).

Russell Westbrook scored 20 of his 22 points in the second half and finished with 16 assists. Kevin Durant had 27 points and Enes Kanter added 15 for the Thunder.

In Oakland, California, Stephen Curry scored 31 points, including the go-ahead 3-pointer with just over a minute to go that led defending champion Golden State to its fifth straight win to open the season, 112-108 over the Clippers.

Harrison Barnes added 17 points and sparked the big run that helped Golden State overcome a 10-point deficit in the fourth quarter to knock off perhaps its most hated rival.

Chris Paul scored 24 points and Blake Griffin added 23 for the Clippers.

The Milwaukee defeated the Philadelphia 76ers 91-87 after Khris Middleton scored 21 points as the Bucks welcomed back forward Jabari Parker from a left knee injury, while Horford scored 21 points and Dennis Schroder added 20 as the Atlanta Hawks beat the Brooklyn Nets 101-87 for their fifth straight win.

In other games, James Harden scored 28 points, including seven in overtime, to help the Houston Rockets outlast the Orlando Magic 119-114, the Washington Wizards edged the San Antonio Spurs 102-99, the Indiana Pacers downed the Boston Celtics 100-98, the Portland Trail Blazers overcame the Utah Jazz 108-92 and the Phoenix Suns were 118-97 winners over the Sacramento Kings.
