Oddsmakers currently have the DETROIT listed as 4 point favorites versus the BOSTON, while the game’s total is sitting at 206.5.
The Boston Celtics were supposed to start out hot and dominate the Eastern Conference this season, but several other teams are stepping up to contend. One such team is the undefeated Detroit Pistons, who will put their perfect record on the line when they host the Celtics on Saturday.
Boston suffered a 93-90 home loss to the Orlando Magic on Monday and was in danger of falling below .500 while trailing by 16 points at Oklahoma City on Thursday, but a strong second half sparked the team to a 101-95 victory. “It’s not brain surgery, right? You need to play with great effort on both ends,” Celtics coach Brad Stevens told reporters. “We were decent defensively in the first half, and in the second half we looked like ourselves. It was encouraging.” The Pistons are off to a 4-0 start for the first time since the 2008-09 season and feature a devastating frontcourt combination with Blake Griffin and Andre Drummond. “I think we have a winning product here,” Detroit coach Dwane Casey told reporters. “We have a style of play that’s going to be exciting once we get it all tied together. … I see it coming. Good things are ahead for us.”

ABOUT THE CELTICS (3-2):Â All-Star center Al Horford got off to a slow start offensively while failing to score in double figures in two of the first four games but came through with a season-high 19 points on Thursday and knocked down three 3-pointers in a 41-second span during the comeback. “It felt really good,” Horford told reporters. “Before the second quarter, Kyrie (Irving) looked and me and was like, ‘hey we have to set the tone and we have to be more aggressive.’ He was right. I started in the third and I tried to do my part and just play with more freedom out there.” Marcus Morris came off the bench to add a season-high 21 points and grab 10 rebounds for his second double-double.
ABOUT THE PISTONS (4-0):Â Horford, Morris and the rest of the Boston frontcourt will have to find a way to defend Griffin and Drummond, who combined for 52 points and 32 rebounds in Thursday’s 110-103 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers. Griffin, who went off for 50 points in a 133-132 overtime win over Philadelphia on Tuesday, is averaging 33.8 points on 55.7 percent shooting, including 15-of-23 from 3-point range. Drummond recorded his second 20-20 game of the young season with 26 points and 22 boards against the Cavaliers and posted a double-double in each of the first four contests.
