Oddsmakers currently have the SACRAMENTO listed as 5.5 point favorites versus the LA LAKERS, while the game’s total is sitting at 240.

The Los Angeles Lakers attempt to reach the .500 mark for the first time this season when they visit the Sacramento Kings on Saturday. Los Angeles dropped its first three games of the season and five of its first seven but has won three of its last four entering the contest against the Kings.

Forward LeBron James has scored 24 or more points in nine of his first 11 games with the Lakers and narrowly missed a triple-double with 24 points, 11 rebounds and nine assists in Wednesday’s 114-110 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves. Power forward Kyle Kuzma has topped 20 points in each of the past two outings to raise his season average to 19.2 as he settles in as the second offensive option behind James. The Kings snapped a two-game slide with a 121-110 victory over the Timberwolves on Friday as center Willie Cauley-Stein scored 25 points. Sacramento’s offense has been clicking well by topping 100 points in all but one contest and Friday’s effort marked the fifth time the Kings have scored 120 or more.

ABOUT THE LAKERS (5-6): Point guard Lonzo Ball departed Friday’s practice with a mildly sprained left ankle and his availability will be firmed up Saturday. “Hopefully it’s nothing serious,” Los Angeles coach Luke Walton told reporters. “We got him out of the end of practice. He went in and got some treatment, and I haven’t seen him yet since.” Ball is averaging nine points, 4.8 rebounds and 4.5 assists in his second season and veteran Rajon Rondo (averages of 10.6 points and seven assists) will start if he can’t play.

ABOUT THE KINGS (7-5): De’Aaron Fox recorded 16 points and 10 assists in the win over Minnesota and the point guard didn’t commit a turnover in 33 minutes.”My decision-making is getting better,” Fox told reporters after the victory. “Most of my turnovers come from passes. I was able to put the ball on the money. It was a great game.” Fox got the better of Ball in the Sweet 16 of the 2017 NCAA Tournament when he scored 39 points for Kentucky in a victory over Ball’s UCLA squad, and the two engaged in spirited matchups last season as NBA rookies.

BUZZER BEATERS

1. The teams split last season’s four meetings.

2. Cauley-Stein is averaging 24.5 points on 21-of-31 shooting over the past two games.

3. Los Angeles C JaVale McGee scored 16 points on 8-of-10 shooting against Minnesota and has reached double digits in nine of 11 games.
