The Philadelphia 76ers just completed another successful homestand, but the road continues to flummox the young squad. The 76ers will try to earn their first road win and stretch their overall winning streak to three straight when they visit the Brooklyn Nets on Sunday.

Philadelphia is 0-4 on the road but improved to 6-0 at home with a 109-99 triumph over the Detroit Pistons on Saturday afternoon. Star center Joel Embiid turned in another stellar performance with 39 points and 17 rebounds and averaged 40 points and 15 boards on the two-game homestand. The Nets held a 14-point lead in the first half against the Houston Rockets at home on Friday but could not hold the advantage and ended up suffering a 119-111 loss – their fourth in the last five games. Brooklyn allowed at least 115 points in each of those five contests and was outscored 63-50 by the Rockets in the second half on Friday.

ABOUT THE 76ERS (6-4): Embiid is playing without restrictions this season and competing on both ends of back-to-back games after being watched carefully in his first two seasons. The 24-year-old logged at least 30 minutes in each of the team’s first 10 games and muscled his way to 39 points on Sunday by getting to the line and knocking down 18-of-23 free throws. The 76ers are letting Embiid share the court at times with fellow big man Mike Muscala, who scored in double figures for the third time in the last four games with 14 points in 26 minutes off the bench on Sunday.

ABOUT THE NETS (3-6): Brooklyn finished Friday’s game with starting point guard D’Angelo Russell on the bench the entire fourth quarter, and the team has been going away from the 22-year-old during crunch time. “We lost,” Russell told reporters. “That’s my main frustration. In general, we all felt that loss. It looked like it was a game we could have squeezed out, but unfortunately, we didn’t. … I’ll look at the game film to see what I can do early in the game to dictate if I’m playing at the end. But we’ve got a lot of guys who are capable of doing a lot of things. Whatever (coach) Kenny (Atkinson) says goes.” Russell is a combined 8-of-29 from the floor, including 1-of-11 from 3-point range, over the last two games.

BUZZER BEATERS

1. 76ers SF Wilson Chandler (hamstring) made his season debut on Saturday and went scoreless in 10 minutes off the bench.

2. Brooklyn SG Caris LeVert scored a season-high 29 points on Friday and leads the team at an average of 20 points.

3. Philadelphia took the last three of the four-game series in 2017-18.

PREDICTION: 76ers 119, Nets 103
