METAIRIE, La. (AP) – Jrue Holiday has had surgery to remove a screw from his lower right leg, which has hampered the New Orleans Pelicans guard for much of the past two seasons.
The Pelicans say a procedure performed Wednesday was deemed successful after a screw was removed from a rod previously placed along Holiday’s shin to help him heal from a stress fracture that first sidelined him two seasons ago.
The Pelicans say they will set a timetable for Holiday’s return to basketball activities later.
The 6-foot-4 Holiday appeared in 40 regular-season games this season, averaging 14.8 points, 6.9 assists and 3.4 rebounds.
After returning in April from a three-month absence, Holiday also played in three of four first-round playoff games against Golden State.
